Since 2010, Spring for Peace has raised over $4 million in support of Peacebuilders’ access to justice and empowerment programs for young people across the City of Toronto.

Peacebuilders has diverted more than 1,200 youth out of the courts before trial and reduced school suspension rates by over 65%

Research has shown the harmful effects of punitive treatment on youth in the justice system.

Courts and legal services alone do not address the underlying issues that lead youth into conflicts with the law. In fact, studies have shown that even one appearance in court can potentially trigger further involvement with the criminal justice system.

Evidence demonstrates that treating young people with compassion reduces the chances that they will come into contact with the justice system, and empowers the next generation of community leaders.

Funds raised from Spring For Peace provide the means to build on key programs, facilitate crisis response and support families and communities.
