On Friday, September 4th, 2020, Peacebuilders Canada alongside a number of amazing community partners like St. James Town Youth United, the Real Talk, Real Solutions Community Dialogue Initiative, the St. James Town Community Corner, Street Health, the Community Healing Project, MLSE, Central Neighbourhood House and Between the Lines Youth Support Services joined forces with the residents of the St. James Town community, children, parents and youth alike to take the time to come together for a fun day of community cleaning, food, activities and basketball.
The youth of the Real Talk, Real Solutions Community Dialogue Initiative, a youth led initiative that is collaboratively supported by Peacebuilders Canada and St. James Town Youth United, recognized that the St. James Town community despite its many challenges with poverty, food security, community violence, mental health and substance use often goes unheard and unseen and decided to take it upon themselves to coordinate the St. James Town Community Clean Up on September 4th, bringing out and bringing together the residents of the community, to give the community voice and to promote community wellness.
