MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR:
Full-time, 12-Month Contract

Who We Are
Peacebuilders is a Toronto based charity with over 20 years of experience providing improved access to justice for young people in conflict with the law and for students, teachers, and administrators in the Ontario school system.
At Peacebuilders, we use restorative practices to keep young people out of the criminal justice system, make schools safer places for learning and development, and build strong and healthy communities. We developed Peacebuilding Circles, which were adapted from the Peacemaking Circles practiced in many First Nations across Canada, in particular those used in the Carcross/ Tagish First Nation.

The Opportunity
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will fulfill this 1-year contract (hybrid) position, and report to the Executive Director and to the Office Manager. The role will achieve the following key objectives:
1) Increasing brand awareness by building on the existing profile of Peacebuilders through various platforms including social media, website development and other related communication tools.
2) Expanding Peacebuilders target communications with key stakeholders such as program participants, prospective program participants, parent and guardians, program funders, legal experts, board members, and members of the public by increasing the reach of online tools and resources such as newsletters and knowledge products.
3) Contributing to the development and implementation of marketing and communications processes and policies for Peacebuilders, including creating communications standards for the organization, a communications plan etc.
4) Maintaining stakeholder database and managing a customer relations management system to assist with strategic use of data bases.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the senior management team members to develop and implement strategic marketing and communications plans to increase outreach for Peacebuilders to stakeholders.
• Work with the senior management team to determine ways to increase brand recognition and connections to target populations including relevant stakeholders and the general public.
• Develop and publish both physical and digital content, including newsletters, annual reports and funders reports, pamphlets, invitations and donation cards, social media posts, blogs, website copy, and media releases across various platforms.
• Maintain and share cutting edge knowledge of local/regional/provincial/national/ and international news and current events to create relevant and timely social media posts
• Oversee updates to the content and design of Pecebuilders’ website.
• Develop, compile, and analyze information (e.g., from research, media, digital analytics) for the provision of ongoing feedback to the organization about its activities in the field.
• Create and maintain stakeholder contact database for internal use and outbound communications.
• Assist with communications on events including the annual Spring 4 Peace fundraiser, volunteer, and staff events etc.
• Design and implement efficient and replicable marketing communications processes.
• Develop standardized templates for internal and external communications materials including customized presentations for the organization as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, or an acceptable equivalent in education and/or experience.
• Minimum of two years experience in communications, marketing, or a related discipline.
• Experience in marketing and communications strategy development and implementation.
• Experience in managing suppliers including creative/communications agencies, printers, writers, videographers, and event planners.
• Additional experience working with charities and not-for-profit organizations as well as in the areas of fundraising and related Information technology an asset.

Qualities and Skills
• Superior written and verbal English-language communication skills including experience writing engaging, high impact content.
• Effective organizational skills including a disciplined approach to project planning and execution with exceptional attention to accuracy and detail.
• Proven ability to manage a range of projects concurrently across organizational priorities.
• Proficiency working with Content Management Systems (WordPress) platforms, SEO, tracking and reporting web metrics (Google Analytics), media monitoring tools (Meltwater) and social media (Sprout Social).
• Competence with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Strong technical skills with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
• Flexible and able to work collaboratively as a part of a dynamic and client focused organization.
• Ability to work with images and video files.
• Proficiency in graphic design software to produce promotional materials considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Mailchimp or other electronic mailing software is considered an asset.
• Fluency in French is an asset.
