About Peacebuilders
Peacebuilders is a Toronto-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for youth involved in the justice system and advocating for transformative changes within our justice and education systems. In Canada, the traditional punitive approaches of the youth justice system often perpetuate cycles of recidivism, failing to address the root causes of youth crime. This limits opportunities for rehabilitation and negatively impacts long-term community health.
Peacebuilders promotes a restorative approach that fosters social connection, encourages rehabilitation, and invests in building healthier communities. We believe that every young person deserves a chance to be heard, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.

About the Role

Peacebuilders is looking for a Project & Outreach Coordinator to support our role in a community driven initiative for change, the Youth Justice Transformation Lab (“Lab”). The Lab is a community-based collaborative composed of organizations that serve justice-involved Black and racialized youth. The Lab aims to bring together justice professionals, young people, community agencies and other stakeholders to implement strategies to improve access to justice for Black and racialized youth in the justice system. The Lab envisions a more effective, inclusive and equitable youth justice system; one that is culturally competent, responds to the unique needs of all young people, and uses its resources and authority to connect young people to supports that address underlying issues that can contribute to justice involvement such as poverty, anti-Black racism, the impact of colonization and other factors. We are looking for an individual who is committed to social justice, access to justice and youth justice, and passionate about improving outcomes for young people in Toronto. The successful candidate would play a key role in helping the collaborative implement strategies to reduce barriers to justice that young people face.

The Lab and this position are generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Youth Opportunities Fund, System Innovations Stream (“YOF grant”).
