The Sister 2 Sister Conference: Empowering Young Women Through Connection and Growth
May 29, 2025On Saturday, May 17th, Peacebuilders Canada partnered with Tim’s Camp to provide 35 youth—ages 12 to 18—with a vibrant, full-day opportunity to connect, grow, and thrive. Alongside our incredible youth ambassadors and staff, and in collaboration with community partners BGC Kiwanis and BGC Eastview, we set off on a journey of wellness, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
From guess-the-riddle games on the bus to challenging themselves on the high ropes, practicing archery, and exploring the farm, our youth stepped out of their everyday environments and into nature—a place of reflection, bonding, and empowerment.
These joyful, challenging, and grounding experiences helped youth foster trust, courage, and a sense of community — key elements at the heart of restorative justice. By offering space for shared laughter, personal growth, and connection, opportunities like this nurture resilience and reinforce the importance of inclusive, supportive networks. They help foster safe, joyful spaces where young people can build meaningful relationships, practice leadership, and explore new experiences that support their mental, emotional, and social well-being. Outings like this go beyond fun—they’re vital to building compassionate communities where youth feel seen, valued, and empowered.
By day’s end, there were new friendships formed, barriers broken, and many tired—but happy—faces. These moments remind us why community partnerships matter. Together, we’re helping shape strong, connected, and resilient youth.
Thank you to all who made this day possible—our partners, sponsors, and supporters. Your investment in youth is creating ripples of impact across our communities.
