October 25, 2022Spring for Peace 2023: Online Wine Auction Sneak Peeks
March 8, 2023It is with mixed feelings that the Board of Directors announces that after three successful years as Executive Director, Marlon Merraro will end his term of office at Peacebuilders on October 31, 2022, as he has undertaken a position as Director of Diversity at the Toronto Transit Commission with the intention of working as a systems strategist to address transit equity, diversity and inclusion issues and improve the lives of our City’s most marginalized communities. He also plans to continue working as an executive coach.
The impact Marlon has had on Peacebuilders has been significant. From steadfastly steering Peacebuilders through COVID-19, and working hard to support young people who were particularly disadvantaged during the pandemic, to securing some significant grants and forging many key relationships. He will certainly be missed.
In the interim, we are pleased to announce that effective November 1, 2022, Barbara Gosse from the Osborne Group will join Peacebuilders as Interim Executive Director, to assist in the day-to-day operations of the organization while we conduct our search for a permanent, full-time ED.
Barbara is a senior corporate consultant who has a lifetime of extensive experience working with diverse youth and adult populations. Her experience includes developing initiatives to address human trafficking in Canada, leading a federally funded approach to saving incentives to increase access to post-secondary education and job training for low-income Canadians, including those living in shelters and youth-in-care. She has advanced organizational credibility and solidified relationships with federal, provincial, and municipal government, Indigenous organizations, large corporate and individual donors, and family foundations. We are confident that Barbara has the requisite skill set and empathy to lead the organization through this period of transition.
In the meantime, it is the intention of the Board’s Executive Director Search Committee, Co-Chaired by Board Members Eva Marszewski and Mark Wright, to work with a BIPOC Executive Search organization to identify and hire the best possible new Executive Director for Peacebuilders.
We take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing generous and loyal support of Peacebuilders, of the youth we serve through Restorative practices and of our legal advocacy to improve the lives of vulnerable young people.

Chair, Peacebuilders’ Board of Directors
