Panel Discussion Event: Building a Better Youth Court

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, Peacebuilders held a Restorative Justice event, in partnership with MLSE LaunchPad at 259 Jarvis Street, to hear from youth and front-line workers about their experiences in Youth Court. Two panel discussions were held to gain insight on best practices and how to better support youth experiencing conflict with the law.

There are currently three Youth Courts in Toronto. By 2022, all of Toronto’s adult and youth criminal courts will be amalgamated into one location downtown. Between January and June 2019, Peacebuilders consulted with over 150 youth, front-line workers, and justice professionals to learn about their experiences in Youth Court. These consultations are summarized in our “Building a Better Youth Court” report which can be downloaded below.
