Children and Youth in Care Day recognizes and celebrates the strength, bravery and resilience shown by children and youth in and from the child welfare system.
First proclaimed into law in 2012, Children and Youth in Care Day raises awareness of the positive contributions current and former youth in care make to our community. It’s an opportunity to show that we value these young people and the unique experiences they face.
In spite of COVID-19, Children Youth in Care Day has never been more important. We must come together as a community to ensure current and former youth in care feel a sense of connection, recognition and support.
Today we recognize young people currently and formerly in care, who have become ambassadors for youth advocacy, influencing policy and legislation, inspiring change, destigmatizing those in care.
